Shattered Dreams

I love… LOVE… old Nikons. The old mechanial beasts which are pretty much indestructable instruments of art. Everything about them is just perfect.

Except… except… I kind of fell back in love with Olympus again. The OM-2n is another of those wonderful feats where engineering meets art, it is the tool of creation with the most beautiful viewfinder of any camera ever. You peer into the tiny apperture and it is like stepping into the tardis - that view is just so large and so bright that it seems impossible! I am running a test film through at the moment which I hope to have processed well before the Photo Walk the weekend after next so that I can check that it is doing everything it should do properly in advance so that I can really put it through it’s paces!

So far I have the 50mm f1.8 lens that it came with, and a couple of odd third party optics on the way (they were really quite cheap!) whilst I figure out just which glass to buy for the long term. The old Zukio lenses are things of legend, so I know I want a few of those! Ideally probably a 24, 28, 35… a faster 50… and something around the 100mm area. I may get a 200, but that is a bit longer than I generally feel the need to shoot unless chasing wildlife - and if I am doing that it will probably be on digital anyway!
