Into the Void

So… Adobe has continued to drive me to a level of irritation that is slowly causing insanity. I managed to bully it into getting everything done - but it wasn’t pretty! I am further playing with On1 Photo RAW tonight which is, slowly… very slowly, starting to make some kind of sense. If this fails I will try the “other” version of Lightroom… but I find it rather annoying!

The news from today though - I finished the roll of Delta 400 from the Photowalk so I can process that really soon… and the timer arrived (with an EU plug) for the enlarger which should arrive in the next few days. Along with all the other components needed to create a darkroom. The basic prep and build is probably going to happen on Monday ahead of everything else arriving - eta is mid week sometime - but I need to get the room tidied out, power where I need it and black out curtains/blinds all fitted. The power should be simple enough as I will just use a switched multiplug for now which also has USB ports to power both my speaker (because developing needs ROCK) and my AGO processor which I am going to use for both film developing and print developing… so I have two Paterson tanks arriving in sizes “oh my, that’s a big one” and “sweet mother of God”. I can print up to 16×20” on this system, which is big enough to get too expensive to do regularly! Not quite big enough for my VAST 20×24” paper, unfortunately. Patterson needs to make a bigger tank and AGO needs to make a bigger insert first - which would be nice! For the moment, though, I will work on 8×10 and 9.5×12 paper that I have to get my eye in (the 9.5 × 12 needs a bigger tank hence the large and massively oversized one coming now!). The first batch of film may go through next week too - and as I get the technique dialled in I will shift on to using colour too!

So - very exciting times. I have ambitions to really push the analogue photography now - it’s more real… more artistic… and has more of me in it I think than digital can ever really muster!
