The Sun Always Shines on TV

It has been an absolutely belting day for mid October - we started with our second frost of the season (the first was yesterday, but I think I forgot to mention it!) and then it was… eventually… off to work! Not too much today - one full shoot and a coupe of drone only jobs in town - but that makes for a nice, relaxed, day which is roughly hitting where I want it to. Tomorrow is less good, but then I do have a man coming to, hopefully, fix my house battery that has been dead for over a year, getting someone interested in sorting it out has been a challenge until they wanted to service the heat pumps though! I am witholding payment now from that until the battery is fixed, because otherwise it will be “forgotten” again!

I am just wrapping up a grant application tonight for an arts award to get me some specialist darkroom training down in Yorkshire. It’s a bit of a leap to do it on my own so if I can get the award it will really acclerate my progress in the printing department! The course isn’t until the spring, which would give me plenty of time to get my basic skillset up to an intermediate level, possibly a strong intermediate since I can spend time working on printing at home now! It means I can concentrate on getting my technique right with resin coated paper for the moment and then really concentrate on fibre paper if I am lucky enough to secure this funding package. Fiber is where I want to be working, with full selenium archival toning, to make true fine-art prints!

This week is not looking hugely good for a darkroom session as it stands - I may manage something towards the end of the week perhaps. I am also planning a second photowalk with Angus for the weekend if the weather holds out (I have ordered some more Kentmere Pan 400 for the wee cameras and am thinking somewhere with a bit more ambient light than the forests of Glen Affric!)
