Hanging on the Telephone

It has definately been a “mixed” day. Vets first with the escapee from Monday as Pickles finally made it in for her annual checkup/innoculations, then a phone call from the RPS to chat through some things. This wound up costing me money as I have now joined not one… but THREE special interest groups. If you are going to do something….

So - my groups of choice are: Analogue Photography, Archaeology and Historical Photography and… probably obviously… Landscape Photography. This should give me some great advice, support, critiquing and inspiration as we move into this exciting new venture. We also talked about some open calls and opportunities to get my work out there.

The afternoon was then spent building a gym downstairs. Which went well until I folded the new treadmill for storeage and the hinges both snapped. Really, really irritating (and expensive - it wasn’t a cheap bit of kit) - I have sent a load of photos and details to the support team so hopefully it will get resolved. Although given I had spent a couple of hours building it I am not looking forward to deconstruction and then starting all over again. What will be will be I guess…

On a positive, however, I have a really nice job come together that I have been quite keen to secure. It is a more creative brief than usual, and a properly priced commercial shoot which is a rather different ballgame to my usual property market in that image use and licencing really comes into the matrix to a much larger extent. I am not, yet, chasing the big money contracts but thisi is more the direction that I want to explore for my commercial work - the chunkier and more interesting stuff. Although I will keep up with the property world too as it is a regular stream and gets me out and about (and, as I have probably said before, I don’t do well with having nothing to do. It plays on my imposter syndrome, insecurities and low self-esteem something crazy!)

I just need the treadmill issue to be resolved to turn this day from a bit of a downer back to where it really should be - a pretty positive day really.
