Learning to Fly

Or… not. Today I took the ZR out for it’s first job and rapidly discovered that my “large” and expensive memory cards are not large or expensive enough for working in the cameras native RED video format. Well, they are…. just not for long! I think nine and a half minutes of shooting and it was done!

So first lesson - shoot in something more sane! These are not high cost videos and they are distributed in HD so 6k 12-bit is probably a little too much!

Whilst out and about, though, I had a few moments of seeing some great photos that I didn’t have a chance to persue. It got me thinking about direction though and perhaps trying to push myself in different directions in order to grow as a photographer. I have been so busy doing commercial work of late that the storytelling aspect of my more artistic work has been somewhat lost. Seeing the photographs, though, even if not executing them… that is the first step in restoration!
