And… Chill
Today has been, largely, spent on a bit of R&R after a busy old week. I managed to loose a lens in the rain, which was foolish… and expensive… but that is all back to rights now. It also pushed me to a couple of extra filters in the purchase since I lost an adapter and decided that I would get a while extra kit along with the bits I needed to get back to where I was. It doesn’t feel so bad that way….
Anyway - that is me all set up for Iceland (again) and I picked up a couple of spare batteries for the Fuji too whilst at it as running out of charge up there would be tragic! I am only taking the GFX100 RF, wide angle adapter (the new one… that is what I lost) and the K&F filters. I may, depending on funds, get a small and lightweight tripod to take too - I haven’t quite decided yet. And there are thoughts about taking a film camera - but that adds bulk and takes valuable luggage space which is in short supply so I am not yet sure on that front. I like the idea of taking the big Fujifilm GSW690… but it is not a photography outing so I may or may not (this is set up to use the same filters as the GFX plus wide adapter)
One thing from this week though, I had forgotten how much I love taking landscapes in really crappy weather - but this week has been “blessed” with quite a lot of that so my photo a day project went back down an oft-travelled (by me) road of shooting in the rain. The results were great - really atmospheric and told a story with a sense of place. I must remind myself to shoot more of this type of thing! I also found some really cool beds of cotton grass which I must get back up to shoot this week whilst it is still out!
