Gimme Shelter
Storm Boelo is here. The wind is ramping up, already hitting force 10 and we are only at the start of this crazy 24 hours whilst it blows through. The rain is coming down hard too! We have supplies, I did a bit of a “preppers” shop earlier on and bought enough tins to keep us all going for a few days, and enough water for everyone for, at a stretch, 2 days… maybe 3.
Why?
Well, the gusts are 55mph now and that is pretty heavy going - but they are going to be pushing up to 70mph over night. We live on the side of a mountain, with one road in and out through heavy woodland. Quite a few of those trees look precarious. The power comes in through the woodlands as well. So chances are we are quite likely to be cut off and potentially without power for a while, so it is as well to take things a little more seriously. I don’t usually get too worked up over a storm, but this one is on an amber warning which requires a little preparation, just incase.
For fun, we get to do it all again on Tuesday!
Anyway… not much news today, but it is the weekend. I have an idea though… I think for 2027 I am going to supplement my “photo a day” project with an “analogue photo of the week” project. I would do that as a photo a day, but that would be a lot of film, a lot of processing and a lot of scanning. The commitment to shoot through 1 film per week is a lot less arduous! I could, of course, share the photos from the week through the next… so perhaps I will run it as a “roll a week” project instead!
We shall see. It is the thoughts of a tired mind at present, and I still have a few weeks of 2026 to flesh out my plans!
