Mr Blue Sky(e)

Today saw me travel over the sea to Skye. Via the bridge… because when I am working the diversion to the old ferry is just not going to make any sense unfortunately. For the first time in a long while I arrived on the Hebridean island to blue sky rather than rain - although the latter was not far away so I “made all haste” as we say in the RNLI reports to the place I was photographing (commercially) with the intention of stopping for some landscapes on the way home.

Now… I do love some dramatic weather… but I didn’t really enjoy the absolute soaking that I got at the Raasay ferry terminal! I only shot one frame on digital there, which isn’t particularly inspiring, so I am holding out home for the analogue shots! The tourist traffic was building so rather than stopping in Broadford as planned I carried on through Kyle and pulled in to shoot a couple of frames at Eilean Donan. Mostly on film on the Bronica (which I then realised I hadn’t changed the film speed setting when switching from Ortho 80 to Formapan 200… but film loves light… so hopefully it is all okay! That film is finished now and I suspect the Ortho will be run through tomorrow as well so I will be looking forward to the next dark room session!

On a related front, I ordered some silver oxide batteries for the OM-2 yesterday after finding that using Alkaline LR44 cells can cause odd exposure meter readings. If this solves the issue I will be very, very happy!
