Masters of the Universe
Or… perhaps… not. But I took the plunge today of entering the “International Print Masters” competition. I wasn’t going to… I don’t think I am ready for those rarified airs yet, but I decided to throw my hat in the ring and see if I could get a flavour of where I am at. Plus the photograph that I entered is only eligable for this years contest by a matter of weeks - by next year it would be too old (shot in 2024) and I wanted to see just how it would do against some very, very stiff competition.
It’s an older shot, I think in many ways I am moving on from where I was at with my work then towards something different - but that hasn’t entirely taken form yet… perhaps by next year it will be there. Just now I am really working towards accomplishing my goals in analogue photography, film is so much more organic - and so much more demanding - than digital. I have started moving more towards the Zenza Bronica ETRSi 645 system, both shooting 120 roll film and 35mm cartridges in a panoramic format. I need a few more lenses to really get the most out of the format I think, but these are seriously good value at the moment so the whole kit will cost less than a single, affordable, lens for my digital set up! I now have far too many film backs though!!!
